Whats your parenting style?

There are four main parenting styles that are often recognized when it comes to parenting preschoolers. These are:

  1. Authoritative parenting: This parenting style involves setting clear rules and expectations for behavior while also being warm and supportive towards the child. Authoritative parents encourage independence, but also provide guidance and discipline when necessary. They are responsive to their child's needs and feelings, while also promoting autonomy.

  2. Authoritarian parenting: This parenting style involves strict rules and high demands for obedience from the child. Authoritarian parents often use punishment to enforce rules and discourage independence. They may be less responsive to their child's needs and feelings, and may struggle to foster a warm and supportive relationship with their child.

  3. Permissive parenting: This parenting style involves few rules and high levels of warmth and responsiveness towards the child. Permissive parents often prioritize their child's happiness over obedience and may struggle to set appropriate boundaries or enforce discipline. As a result, their children may struggle with self-control and responsibility.

  4. Uninvolved parenting: This parenting style involves low levels of warmth, responsiveness, and engagement with the child. Uninvolved parents may be neglectful or dismissive of their child's needs and feelings, and may struggle to provide appropriate care and supervision.

It's worth noting that parenting styles can vary from situation to situation and may change over time, based on the child's needs and developmental stage. Ultimately, the most effective parenting style for preschoolers is one that fosters a

warm, supportive relationship with clear expectations and boundaries, while also promoting independence and self-esteem.
